"It could touch on many things [like] the way he changed music in different decades," said Davis' nephew, Vince Wilburn. "From Bird to bebop to hip-hop and in between."
Wilburn said the family has also been in talks with director Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day") about helming the film, but added, "First of all we have to get a script."
Davis, who would have turned 80 on May 26, will be celebrated this spring via as-yet-unannounced archival CD releases via Sony's Legacy imprint as well as several DVD projects, including highlights from his many performances at Switzerland's Montreux Jazz Festival.
