Murder Conviction Overturned For C-Murder

Comments

The rap artist formerly known as C-Murder is in line for a new trial in connection with a club shooting near New Orleans more than four years ago. The Louisiana Supreme Court scrapped the second-degree murder conviction of Corey Miller, a case that had been in legal limbo for almost two years.

Miller was convicted in the shooting death of Steve Thomas, 16, who was gunned down outside the now-defunct Platinum Club in Harvey in January 2002. Miller faced a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.

The Supreme Court upheld Miller's trial judge, who negated the verdict because prosecutors failed to tell defense attorneys about the criminal background of state witnesses.

The District Attorney's office has yet to announce if it will retry the rapper. Miller also still faces a separate attempted murder charge in Baton Rouge, La.
