Ice Cube Launches Label, Readies Album

Comments

Rapper/actor Ice Cube will on June 6 release his seventh solo album, "Laugh Now, Cry Later," via his new independent label, Lench Mob Records. The 18-track set features guest appearances by Snoop Dogg and WC, in addition to production by Scott Storch, Swizz Beatz and Lil' Jon, among others.

A video for lead single "Why We Thugs," produced by Storch, will be shot later this month. Another track, "Chrome & Paint," can be streamed from the artist's Web site.

In the spring, Ice Cube will hit the road on his first nationwide tour in years, which kicks off April 19 in Anaheim, Calif., and runs through May.

"Laugh Now, Cry Later" is the rapper's first studio album in six years and the follow-up to 2000's "War & Peace Vol. 2 (The Peace Disc)," his final release for longtime label Priority. That set has sold 992,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
