Comments

Bruce Springsteen, the Dixie Chicks and Sting are among the high-profile acts confirmed to perform as part of the 2006 MusiCares Person of the Year dinner honoring James Taylor. As previously reported, the event will be held Feb. 6 in Los Angeles.

Taylor is being saluted for his achievements in music as well as his devotion to philanthropy in the arts, environment and humanitarian causes.

Paul Simon, India.Arie, Jackson Browne, David Crosby, Bonnie Raitt, Dr. John, Carole King, Alison Krauss, Taj Mahal and Randy Newman are also slated to perform at the event, which will be held two days prior to the Grammy Awards. The gala will also feature a luxury item silent auction that includes an Ebony Gibson JR-200 Acoustic Electric Guitar signed by Simon.

Taylor, whose last release with 2004's "A Christmas Album," has three solo acoustic concerts scheduled for early March in Columbus, Ga., Clearwater, Fla., and Melbourne, Fla.
