Gospel singer CeCe Winans is twice nominated for in the field for the 48th annual Grammy Awards. In the best contemporary soul gospel album, her PureSprings Gospel/INO set "Purified" will compete with brother BeBe Winans' "Dream" (Still Waters/A Hidden Beach Experience)/TMG).
"I have five Grammys but it's been awhile. I'm real excited and very surprised," Winans tells Billboard.com. "People have always been very kind and respectful and have always honored not just me but my family for the music that we've done and what we've contributed to gospel music and to the world. So it's always a blessing, but it's humbling."
The Winans' will face substantial competition for the award, as Yolanda Adams' "Day By Day (Elektra/Atlantic), J Moss' "The J Moss Project" (GospoCentric) and Mary Mary's self-titled Columbia/Sony Urban set are also nominated.
Winans, who is up for the best gospel performance ("Pray") award, is preparing to tour next spring in support of "Purified," which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums chart and has sold 129,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
