Former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell has sued his ex-wife and one-time manager Susan J. Silver, seeking more than $1 million in damages. Cornell claims, among other things, that Silver diverted monies owed to Cornell to the other Soundgarden band members.

The suit, filed Nov. 28 in California Superior Court in Los Angeles, alleges that Silver "conspired with other representatives of Soundgarden to direct funds owed to [Cornell]" to other members of the band. Cornell was married to Silver from 1990 to 2002, and also says in the suit that Silver failed to advise him to "protect his interests in copyrighted musical compositions that were created prior to the marriage."

Additionally, the suit argues that because of Silver's "personal animus" to Cornell she has retained possession of a number of items of "significant monetary and personal value" to the singer, who is currently fronting Audioslave. Among these items are two Grammy awards, various demo tapes, personal recordings, journals and music sheets.

Cornell is seeking a sum to be determined by the court, but not less than $1 million. Additionally, Cornell is asking for a declaration that Silver should be barred from representing other Soundgarden members due to an "irreconcilable conflict of interest."

Silver is based in Seattle and runs Atmosphere Artist Management. She could not be reached for comment prior to deadline.
