Rock Veterans Staff Black Light Burns

Comments

Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland, session drummer extraordinaire Josh Freese, Nine Inch Nails collaborator Danny Lohner and keyboardist/programmer Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv have formed a new band, Black Light Burns.

The group is putting the finishing touches on its as-yet-untitled debut album, due early next year via Geffen, with a world tour to follow. Preview clips of the songs "The Mark," "Animal" and "I Have a Need" are available on the act's Myspace.com page. The latter track features bass work from Limp Bizkit's Sam Rivers.

Borland is handling lead vocals for the project. "Danny Lohner's house has been a hive of activity," the band wrote in a recent Web post. "Almost all the recording has been done here -- not once has the band needed to enter a real recording studio."

Freese is squeezing Black Light Burns sessions in between work on Sting's next studio album, which has been unfolding at the artist's Italian villa. Freese served as the drummer on Sting's most recent round of touring, which featured a stripped-down band and the reintroduction of a number of Police songs into the set.
