Ashcroft Unlocks Third Solo Album

Comments

Former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft will release his third solo album early next year. "Keys to the World" is due Jan. 23 in the United Kingdom via Parlophone, preceded on Jan. 9 by the single "Break the Night With Colour." A North American release date has yet to be announced.

"Keys to the World" is the follow-up to 2002's "Human Conditions," which debuted at No. 3 on the U.K. album chart and No. 19 on Billboard's Heatseekers tally.

Ashcroft had been seldom seen on a live stage in the past several years, but returned to concert duty this summer supporting Coldplay in Europe (the two acts performed the Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony" together at Live 8 in July). He will play his first headlining show since 2002 Dec. 7 at London's Kings College.

Here is the track list for "Keys to the World":

The track listing for the new album is:

"Why Not Nothing?"
"Music Is Power"
"Break the Night With Colour"
"Words Just Get in the Way"
"Keys to the World"
"Sweet Brother Malcolm"
"Cry Til the Morning"
"Why Do Lovers?"
"Simple Song"
"World Keeps Turning"
