Blige, Chilis Lead Grammy Nominee Field
Mary J. Blige leads the nominations for the 49th annual Grammy awards, which were announced today (Dec. 7) in Los Angeles. The R&B singer was recognized in eight categories, including song of the year and best R&B album for "The Breakthrough" (Geffen). The Grammys will be held Feb. 11, 2007, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and televised live on CBS.

Beyonce, the Dixie Chicks, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Gnarls Barkley will all perform at the 49th Grammy Awards, to be broadcast live Feb. 11 on CBS from Los Angeles' Staples Center. Pink, Rihanna and actors Terrence Howard and Samuel L. Jackson will serve as presenters.

The Police Confirm Grammy Reunion Performance
After weeks of speculation, the Police confirmed today (Jan. 30) that it will reunite to open the 49th annual Grammy Awards Feb. 11 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The group has not performed live since its 2003 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; the Grammy appearance is widely expected to kick off a year's worth of reunion shows throughout the world.

Shakira, Wyclef Lead New Grammy Performers
Shakira and Wyclef Jean will team up for a performance during Sunday's (Feb. 11) Grammy Awards, while Chris Brown, Lionel Richie and Smokey Robinson will perform during a tribute segment to male R&B artists. In addition, Rascal Flatts will join previously announced performer Carrie Underwood for a tribute to country-influenced rock.
