J. Lo fans will hear a softer side of their diva on her first, all-Spanish language album. "Como Ama Una Mujer" is unabashedly romantic and completely different from the urban sound of her English albums. It is also quite removed from the earthier, rhythmic vibe heard in much of Latin pop today (although the single "Qué Hiciste" is uptempo and percussive). Dovetailing with her choice of sound and arrangements that straddle convention and invention, Lopez mines new emotional depths. It certainly helps that she has the vocal chops needed to interpret material that is often quite demanding. The songs are both whimsical (the acoustic "Adiós") and dramatic ("Por Arriesgarnos"), the latter a duet with husband Marc Anthony mixed in a way that will make listeners guess if it's really him. Another standout is "Tú," whose lovely melody, sung with a tinge of regret, hints at '80s Italian pop. —Leila Cobo
