Indian Performance Royalties Threatened By Court Rulings

Two Indian court rulings could kill off authors’ performance royalties from radio airplay as a court in Mumbai and another in New Dehli ruled in favor of broadcasters challenging the right of the Performing Right Society (IPRS) to claim royalties on radio airplay. Many in the music publishing industry are calling the rulings "regressive" and against international law.

Willie Robertson, who died in London on July 9, was a music industry pioneer. He built the business he co-founded Robertson Taylor Insurance Brokers (RTIB) from the ground up eventually insuring the biggest tours in the business including those by Michael Jackson, Elton John, Pink Floyd, U2 (including their record-breaking 360 tour) and the Rolling Stones (A Bigger Bang). Robertson also co-founded the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy charity.
