Digitalmusic.org, NARM’s hub for digital music commerce, announced their first affiliate partners earlier today. These include, the American Association of Independemnt Music (A2IM), Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI), the Harry Fox Agency,, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), SESAC and SoundExchange.
After two days of heady panel discussions, the Billboard Touring Awards on Thursday night presented an opportunity for the industry to celebrate and unwind. Indeed, as U2, Jason Aldean and Journey were celebrated; Red Light's Coran Capshaw was honored by Phish’s Trey Anastasio; Perry Farrell and businesses such as Live Nation, the 930 Club and C3 Presents were recognized, the honorees kicked back and rocked – as this photo gallery clearly shows...
NARM, the nonprofit trade association for music business, and digitalmusic.org (DMO), the home for NARM’s digital incentives announced that six digital music companies have joined their group, this includes Spotify, Getty Images Music, Turntable.fm and Slacker.
This past weekend, independent non-commercial radio station WFMU hosted their 18th annual record fair with more than 200 dealers, 4,000 collectors, a performance by Prince Rama, live broadcasts by DJs like Gaylord Fields and a tribute to John Fahey. Perhaps the weekend's biggest surprise, was the radio panel in which "This American Life" (NPR) host said about radio's survival, "Who cares?"
