According to vocalist/guitarist Ronnie Washburn, the punky indie rock band Your Enemies Friends formed in Los Angeles "out of boredom." With Dana James (bass/vocals), Allen Watke (guitar), Aska Matsumyia (keyboards), and Luis-Carlos Contreas (drums), the lineup was set. Early on, the band shared stages with the Promise Ring and the Dillinger Escape Plan. Buddyhead released their debut EP, The Wiretap, and the band relocated to Seattle. Unhappy with life in what they called "the suicide capital of the world," the band headed to Hollywood and recorded their first full-length, You Are Being Videotaped. Clad in black, the band hit the road with old friends the Dillinger Escape Plan and the Locust and asked fans to bring dill pickles to the shows because they love them. ~ David Jeffries, All Music Guide
