Joining Priestess, Wolfmother, and Eagles of Death Metal in the pack of new-millennium hard rock bands are Wires on Fire, a Los Angeles foursome boasting influences such as the Birthday Party, the Damned, and Black Sabbath. Evan Weiss (vocals/guitar), Michael Shuman (bass/vocals), Jeff Lynn (guitar), and Darren Weiss (drums) formed the group in 2004 and have toured with the likes of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Fall, Death from Above 1979, Mclusky, Hella, and Pretty Girls Make Graves. Their Homewrecker EP was issued the same year on Buddyhead; however, Wires on Fire's explosive rock sound really came to life on their self-titled studio full-length. Produced by Alain Johannes and Natasha Shneider (Queens of the Stone Age, Eleven), Wires on Fire was released in fall 2006. Founding member Darren Weiss left the band in September to continue his education. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide
