The indie rock trio Waker formed in New York City in 1999 when David Allan Sharma met up with Paul Preissner and Jamie Tanner and finally put a band together. Sharma, who was already a veteran having played with the Skalars since 1993, sparked a creativity within the band and instantly the band was practicing and playing gigs in the East Village. Early 2001 saw the release of Waker's debut, an eponymous joint release with the Italian rock piece, Oliver. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide
