Biography

New York City quartet TV/TV were formed in 2006 by longtime friends Josh Ocean (vocals and guitar) and Joe Esposito (guitar), taking their name from a group of media-sharp Berkeley students from the 1970s who called themselves "TVTV" and specialized in asking politicians tough questions while filming the responses with handheld cameras. Rounding out their lineup with drummer Joe Vanette and bassist François, TV/TV became a regular draw on the New York club circuit, featuring rock-driven dance tunes that never lost sight of the melodic side of pop. The band released an EP, Something to Get Excited About!, produced by Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount and recorded at Tree Sound Studios in Atlanta, GA, in 2008. Just as it was released, drummer Vanette amicably left the band and was replaced by Camille "Cam" Olivier. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide
