Acting as the bass player for premier Boston street punks the Unseen since the band's inception in 1993 (when the guys were still in high school), Tripp Underwood spent years living the nomadic punk life. He traveled the world with his buddies, playing music everywhere from crappy dives in front of a few people to festival spots in front of hundreds. The Unseen had released five full-length albums as of 2005 on labels like A-F, BYO, and Hellcat, in addition to countless 7" singles and compilation appearances along the way. Outside of the band, Underwood also found time to write -- he was a self-proclaimed master of "illiterature" (writing for those who claim they don't like to read) -- contributing to publications like AMP Magazine and Alternative Press. In October 2006 he issued his first book, the insightful and humorous So This Is Readin? Life on the Road with the Unseen, which chronicled the Unseen's illustrious 12-year history to that point and the life that comes with being in a touring punk band. The book was also released in an audio format through Hopeless Records, in which Underwood reads the story himself alongside several rare songs from the Unseen. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide
