Biography

Dallas, TX, trio the Trap Starz Clik first stirred a national buzz in 2007 with their club rap single "Get It Big" (better known in Dallas, though, as "Get It Bitch"). Lil' High, YT, and Pacman all grew up together on Dallas' west side and first began making music in high school, though mostly for fun and because they thought it was easy to do. After high school, they each went to different colleges: Pacman to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, for track and field, Lil' High to Mountain View Community College in Dallas for basketball, and YT to High Tech Institute, also in Dallas. Despite the separate treks the three made for themselves, their hearts were still in hip-hop music. The Clik spent time in between classes recording many songs, but once "Get It Big," which sounded closer to Atlanta crunk than the slowed-down, "screwed" rap of their Houston neighbors, was made, the group decided to break the song to local clubs and radio. Recorded for High4Life Entertainment, "Get It Big" gained instant rotation on Texas urban stations and even made a dent on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop singles chart. Shortly thereafter, Universal picked up the Clik's full-length debut, Hood Depot, for a 2008 release. ~ Cyril Cordor, All Music Guide
