Throcult

Artist Info

Biography

Denver's Throcult was founded in 1997 as Throat Culture, and after the obligatory early personnel swaps, Chris Vigil (vocals), Nick Jackson (guitar), Cassie Begay (bass) and Rod Brown (drums) recorded the "Six Songs & Two Remixes" demo. Keyboard player Brian Fisher fleshed out their ranks in 1999, just in time for the name change to Throcult and occasional opening slots with the likes of Type-O-Negative and Anthrax. Another set of demos, 2001's "De-Facto" and 2002's "Hunted" finally led to a recording contract with Crash/Pavement, which released Throcult's Soldiers of a Blackened War album in 2003. Featuring a highly accomplished, ultra-violent death/black metal hybrid, the L.P. also introducing new members Ivan Alcala (guitar) and Jeremy Portz (drums). ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide
