The little-known new wave group the Nobodys flirted with mainstream exposure by having their single "No Guarantees" appear on the TV series Miami Vice. But aside from getting the song's video heavily played in Canada and the Philippines, the Nobodys became as anonymous as their name. Comprised of Safeway Goya (vocals), Alex Blanc (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Eric Garcia (bass, guitar), Ken Ypparila (guitar, violin, keyboards), and Tim Burke (drums), the Nobodys were signed to Capitol Records and released their only LP, No Guarantees, in 1984. The group's witty songs -- featuring lyrics about leg fetishes and addiction to computers -- found critical praise; however, the band was denied mass acceptance. After "No Guarantees" was used in Miami Vice on November 1, 1985, nobody ever heard anything from the Nobodys again. ~ Michael Sutton, All Music Guide
