Brooklyn-based group the New Rags bill themselves as the world's only pop-rock-ragtime duo. That duo consists of Tom Merrigan (who plays a Fender Rhodes electric piano and sings) and Andrew Pierce (who drums). They self-released their debut EP, Take Jennie to Brooklyn, in 2005. "Your Room," a track from the disc, became a hit in Japan and later was remixed by DJ Z-Trip for use in an Australian Nike commercial. Silent Stereo Records, a label devoted to analog recording, reissued Take Jennie to Brooklyn on May 1, 2007. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
