Biography

Singer, guitarist, and keyboardist Mark Allen has been in a number of bands over the years. He is a gifted singer and songwriter, as well as a musician who can play nearly a dozen different instruments. His years of experience served him well when he decided to put together the Mark Allen Band in 1992. Other original members were bassist Larry Leitham, guitarist Dave Codner, and backup singers Carol Kaye and Karla Giannelli. In 1995 the lineup changed a bit, dropping a few members and adding in drummer Michele DiSisto, keyboardist Tony Agapiou, and bassist Barney Cortinez.

The Mark Allen Band performed at numerous clubs and concerts during those early years, growing a large fan base one show at a time. In 1997, the group finally finished work on a full-length album, Six Interlocking Pieces. The debut was recorded under the Blue Care Records label and carries superb rock tracks like "I Will Be There," "Take Me Back," and "Lightning Never Strikes." The debut album was the group's one and only release, since the members called it quits a short year later. Allen went on to start a solo career, calling on other former members now and then to either perform live with him, or sit in on a recording. ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
