Formed in New York City in 2001 as an acoustic duo by Australian brothers Isaac and Thorry Koren, the Kin play a heady blend of '90s Brit-pop, soulful alternative rock, and radio-ready introspection, which has earned the siblings a devoted following up and down the Eastern Seaboard. Raised in Adelaide in the cradle of a musically supportive household, the brothers studied jazz and vocal techniques from the age of ten, collaborating on their first song in their late teens. After relocating to the Big Apple, the pair began to search for other musicians to flesh out their epic songs, eventually settling on a rotating cast of drummers, keyboardists, and bassists. In 2004 the Kin released their debut album, Tracing, followed by Red and Black in 2005, Live at the Pussy Cat in 2006, and Rise and Fall in 2007. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide
