Biography

When Nate Albert left the Mighty Mighty Bosstones in 1999, he had an agenda. He decided to take a break from the countless years of touring and recording to earn a degree in political theory from Brown University. He was also writing songs during this time, fun, punk-pop songs far far away from his ska-driven roots. By 2001, Albert found himself making music again, but this time it was with his new band the Kickovers. Joining him were ex-Weezer bassist Mikey Welsh, guitarist Johnny Rioux, and fellow Bosstones drummer Joe Sirois. They recorded their 2002 debut Osaka for ex-Grand Royal president Mark Kates' new label Fenway Recordings. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide
