The Joykiller is an L.A. punk supergroup of sorts, counting original/on-again-off-again T.S.O.L. members Jack Grisham (vocals) and Ron Emory (guitar), Gun Club and Weirdos ex-member Billy Persons (bass), and journeyman Chris Lagerborg (drums). The band joined the Epitaph roster and gained a fifth member with the addition of session keyboardist Ronnie King (Coolio, Mariah Carey, 2Pac) to the fold. They released their self-titled debut in 1995 and gained further notice for their 1996 follow-up, Static -- Flipside magazine's readers awarded the Joykiller as the best artist of the year. Three, their third album in as many years, was released in 1997. In the following decade, Grisham and Emory rejoined T.S.O.L. for 2001's Disappear. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
