Minneapolis indie rockers the Drive Back sowed the seeds of their band back in middle school. Guitarist/vocalist Craig Casey, bassist Troy Pinard, and drummer Grady Kenevan had been messing around musically from around age 12, but didn't solidify the Drive Back's lineup until early 2003, when they brought lead guitarist/vocalist Jon Evans aboard. Their first effort, the Leave to Arrive EP, came out later that year and proved the band not only to be capable musicians, but capable self-producers as well. A few years of hardcore touring ensued and the band began steadily gaining interest in the Midwest throughout the early 2000s. 2006 saw the release of the band's second EP, Autumnmotive, another self-produced effort that had the band embracing a slightly more emo-tinged approach, which sold nearly 1,000 copies in its first six months. The Drive Back continue to tour extensively. ~ J. Scott McClintock, All Music Guide
