Almost nothing is known of the District Six, except that they cut 12 songs in 1966 and 1967 that would have constituted a killer album. The material is all covers, but it's an unusual mix, done with style and excitement, of songs by the Association, Love, the Music Machine, etc. These guys attacked the songs -- ranging from "Cherish" and "Remember" by the Association to harder sides like "Talk Talk" and "Turn on Your Love Light," plus genuine oddities like Bob Seger's "She Cried No (East Side Story)" -- with spirit and a lot of care, especially given that their only surviving tape is a demo. Their playing was hard and crunchy and their singing showed attention to the right nuances. Wherever the members ended up, they deserved success somewhere if they couldn't find it as the District Six. ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide
