The Brigands' "(Would I Still Be) Her Big Man" was an outstanding and unusual 1966 garage band single. In addition to a good fuzz riff, the usual staple of many a 45 in the genre, there were also fairly involved lyrics espousing a working-class perspective, bolstered by good backup harmonies. It sounds like the kind of thing heard on many a regional indie, yet it came out on Epic Records, and was produced by Artie & Kris Resnick (Artie Resnick had cowritten the Rascals' "Good Lovin'"). Given the major label and songwriting credits from the producers, there's been speculation that this one-off flop single might have been the work of a studio-only group, although it's certainly full of energy and insouciant attitude. It was reissued on Back from the Grave Vol. 2, and also on the Nuggets box set. ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide
