Biography

The praise & worship band Ten Shekel Shirt, composed of members Lamont Hiebert, Tommy Lee, and Austin Morrison, drew their unusual name from a Paris Reidhead sermon. Entitled Ten Shekels and a Shirt, the message encouraged people not to seek God for what He can do for them. Lead singer and Ten Shekel Shirt songwriter Hiebert explained, "Naming the band Ten Shekel Shirt is simply to remind us that ministry is not for sale." The group's music first received notice when Hiebert's song "Meet With Me" was recorded on Maranatha's Praise Band Ten. Following the success of the song, Ten Shekel Shirt signed with Vertical Music. Their debut album, Much, was released in 2001. Risk, produced by Brent Milligan, followed in 2003 on M2.0 Records. The band then signed with Rounder Records, which issued Jubilee in 2008. ~ Ashleigh Kittle, All Music Guide
