Susan Robkin is a singer and songwriter born in Seattle, WA. Her love for music started when she was very young. As a child she had voice lessons and even held positions in two different girl choirs, touring some. Though classically trained, it was more popular forms of music that really drew Robkin's interest -- the kinds of music her friends listened to, the kind she heard on the radio. Around 1997, Robkin began to think about her music in terms of a professional career, as both a singer and songwriter. She made her first EP that year, All Those Years, but sadly it never saw the light of day. It was an open microphone night at a local place -- where her talent stunned the owner and the audience -- that gave her the confidence to act on her dreams. Simple female determination helped, too. 1998 was a big, life-altering year for Robkin; she moved to Tennessee and started her own record label, Mouse and Bear Music. Things only got better the following year, with the release of her debut album Horse of a Different Color. A sophomore recording, How to Say Goodbye, was finished the next year. Afterwards, she began work on a third full-length album for 2001. "You Still Love the Girl," "Spinning Round," "Breathe Her Air Again," "Sunflower," and "Afraid to Face the Fall" are some of the tunes that Robkin brings out the best of. When Robkin performs she has an excellent band backing her, including guitarists Jess Gaedtke and Joshua Gaedtke, bassist Scott Dowsett, drummer Pete Johnson, and background vocalist Caroline Williams. ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
