Superblue

Artist Info

Biography

A festive approach to music, dance-inspiring soca rhythms and a knack for witty, double entendre-tinged lyrics have made Superblue (born: Austin Lyons) one of Trinidad's most successful vocalists. A regular performer at Trinidad's festivals, Superblue has dominated the prestigious Road March competitions throughout the '90s. He won the competition in 1994, 1996, and 1998, and tied with Robbie McIntosh in 1997. While his albums have mainly showcased original songs, Superblue has recorded unique interpretations of such classic tunes as the Bee Gees' "To Love Somebody," Shel Silverstein's "Sylvia's Mother," the Beatles' "I Want to Hold Your Hand," Eddy Grant's "Walking in Sunshine," and Bob Marley's "Redemption Song," "Shots Called," and "No Woman, No Cry." ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide
