Strega are a five-piece indie pop group from New York City, comprised of frontman Stephen Vesecky (formerly of #poundsign#), Kyona Watts (bass, vocals), Liz Wilcox (keys), James Bell (drums), and JP (drums). Taking their cue from the Smiths and New Order, Strega have put together the kind of gritty yet whimsical, synth-driven sound that nods to the Bridal Shop, Cut Copy, and the Pains of Being Pure at Heart. Strega made their debut in 2008 via the Miami, FL-based indie pop label Cloudberry, appearing on the label's Last Train to Christmas compilation disc. Strega's debut self-titled single also made an appearance on Cloudberry around that time. A full-length album (to be released on Series Two Records) was rumored to be in the works as of 2009. ~ Margaret Reges, All Music Guide
