Strong, American roots-music performer, equally adept at rockabilly and low-down blues. His first known recording behind Detroit bluesman Bobo Jenkins on "Shake 'Em on Down" also featured the debut work of Austin, Texas mainstay Sarah Brown and Fran Christina of the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Formed local Boogie Brothers band with Brown, Christina and John Nicholas (Asleep at the Wheel, Guitar Johnny & the Guitar Rockers), backing every blues legend who came into their native Ann Arbor, appearing on Atlantic's 1972 Ann Arbor Blues & Jazz Festival behind Johnny Shines and doing their own solo turn. After nucleus of band moved to Boston with Nicholas, Nardella formed the Silvertones with local guitar hot-shot George Bedard, recording one fine album for the Blind Pig label. Has continued on his own since then, expanding his musical genres beyond just straight blues forms and turning out some interesting music along the way. ~ Cub Koda, All Music Guide
