Led by Kanagwa-born lead vocalist and guitarist Kuwata Keisuke and bass player and background singer Kazuyuku Sekiguchi, the Southern All Stars are one of Japan's top rock bands. Their album Kamkura" sold more than 1,000,000 copies and their many hits include such Keisuke-penned tunes as "Hoshi No Eri," "Minna No Uta," "Sayonara Baby," "Erotica Seven," "Mampy No G Spot," and "Paradise." The genesis of Southern All Stars traces back to a fateful day in 1974, when Keisuke and Sekiguchi met as students at Aoyama Gakuin University. The following year, they teamed with Hara Yuko, Nozawa Hideyuki, Omori Takashi, and Matsuda Hiroshi to form the Southern All Stars. While each band member has released at least one solo album, Keisuke has released six albums of his original songs. In 1991, he directed his first film, Inamura Jehen. He collaborated with Japanese pop group, Mr. Children, to perform a charity concert for AIDS. He wrote a song, "Kiseki," for the occasion. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide
