Biography

Indie rock quintet Sister came together in London in 2005. After the collapse of their previous bands, singer/guitarist Gemma Banks, guitarist Alan McFeely, and bassist Steve Hackett joined forces with Jamie (keyboards) and Matt (drums) and began holding practices in an abandoned warehouse. After creating initial buzz with live shows in the U.K. and Ireland, one of their biggest breaks came not from the world of music, but of fashion -- impressed with both their sound and their sense of style, British designer Luella Bartley invited them to perform for her show at London Fashion Week in 2007. In December of the same year, Sister released their first single, "Satellite," on Regal Recordings. ~ Katherine Fulton, All Music Guide
