Post-punk-influenced emo quartet Sirens Sister only formed in 2006, but the Seattle band's shared roots go much further than that: three members of Sirens Sister, singer, acoustic guitarist, and keyboardist Zach Davidson, guitarist Leif Anderson, and bassist Jeff Rouse, are former members of the major-label punk act Vendetta Red. Rouse also spent some time in Joe Meice's scrappy pop-punks the Alien Crime Syndicate; drummer Ben Libay had been in a series of minor local bands. Formed in Bakersfield, CA, before resettling in the Pacific Northwest, Vendetta Red had lasted for eight years and five albums, three of them on Epic Records, before splitting up in early 2006. Davidson, Anderson, and Rouse formed Sirens Sister almost immediately, exchanging Vendetta Red's more aggressive tendencies for an epic sound deeply influenced by 1980s practitioners of the Big Music like U2, Simple Minds, and Echo & the Bunnymen. Signing with The Control Group, a local indie owned by a fellow ex-member of Alien Crime Syndicate, Sirens Sister entered the studio almost immediately upon forming. Their debut album, Echoes from the Ocean Floor, was released in September 2006. ~ Stewart Mason, All Music Guide
