Biography

Furnishing wise sounds of alternative pop/rock, Shillglen swiftly became a reference on San Diego's music scene after they formed in 1998. Greg Laswell (vocals), Chad Lansford (guitar), Matt Mintz (guitar), Mike de Neve (bass), and Marcel de Neve (drums) embodied the California-born team. Playing keen guitar sounds endured with lavish rhythmic structures and adding to it sharp and brisk lyrics, the band underlined their unique figures. The quintet started by supporting their compositions on various live concerts locally, eventually leading them to a notable recognition by the public and by several regional radios that gave the band repeated airplay. In 1999, Sometimes I Feel, their debut album, hit the record stores after more than nine months of recording and self-producing. Since then, Shillglen gained an ever-growing number of fans, becoming one of the most noted bands on California's alternative setting. ~ Mario Mesquita Borges, All Music Guide
