Secretary Bird was created by Mike Semple, who has been a member of Campfire Girls and Friends of Dean Martinez. He is also noted for co-writing the score to the film Fast Food Nation and playing with Giant Sand. With Secretary Bird, Semple merges influence from his original home in Tucson, AZ, and his later home in Los Angeles, resulting in a mix of mellow country, folk, and rock. The debut self-titled album arrived through In De Goot in March 2007 and features contributions from Thomas Froggatt of She Wants Revenge and Eric Avery of Jane's Addiction.
