Detroit, MI, native Scott Campbell is a self-made artist in a lot of ways. He began writing poems when he was only seven. A year later he had moved on to writing songs, without giving up his poetry. As time went by, he learned to play the guitar, the drums, keyboards, saxophone, and even the piano, mostly teaching himself. During his musical career he has won over a dozen ASCAP awards for his excellent songwriting style. In 1986, Campbell recorded his first single, a two-sided offering that carried the songs "The Gates of Hell" and "I'm Saving Myself for Angela Cartwright." Performing throughout Canada, the United States, and even Japan and Europe helped him build a loyal fan base. He did some recordings with bands, and even had work show up on soundtracks, like the one for the film Mirror Mirror. Over a decade after his first single was released, Campbell's debut full-length offering was finally recorded, The Decline & Fall of Scott Campbell. Some of the folk-rock tracks from the album include "Turn Your Mind Inside Out," "Real Live Love," "I Am an Accident Waiting to Happen," and "If I Knew." ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
