Formed in 1995 when drummer Mark Coffin relocated from California to Kansas City, MO, and started a collaboration with bassist Carl Newberry, and brothers WC (vocals) and Paul Mitchell (guitar). Sharing the influences of Tool, Janes Addiction, Quicksand, and their own abrasive energy, the band soon started playing all around the Mid-West and even having the chance to share the stage with the likes of Tripping Daisy, Tenderloin, and the Nixons, among others. After the release of their first album Tough Row to Hoe in 1995, Sacrifice Isaac took a sudden year hiatus on the count of trying to find a replacement bass player whom they could click with. It wasn't until Gene Abramov came about in 1996, the band was reinstated back on the Mid-Western scene and released their 1999 follow-up on Slipdisc entitled Migraine. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
