Named after the notoriously dull art-house erotica flick on Seinfeld, the hard-rocking post-grunge band Rochelle, Rochelle formed in San Diego, CA, in August 2000. Vocalist/guitarist Erik Berg, guitarist Gaylord Van Brocklin, bassist Nicholas Sekol, and drummer Jeff Grasmick began playing around the area and gaining exposure on local radio, and soon released an independent, self-titled debut EP. In 2001, the band was selected to participate in the first Coke-sponsored New Music Awards contest for unsigned bands. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
