In a city where mysterious, undiscovered jazz obscurities outnumber even places claiming to have the best Chinese barbecued duck, or steak and cheese sandwiches, arranger Robert Henderson's main distinction seems to have been getting a credit for laughing. To find out whether this laughter was his, captured by remote recording devices, or something he inspired in the musicians who played his charts, would require sifting through a large amount of material recorded at the Philadelphia venue called Ortleib's Jazzhaus. This place was apparently one of Henderson's beloved hangs. He should not be confused with the jazz pianist, vocalist, and trumpeter most often known as Bobby Henderson. ~ Eugene Chadbourne, All Music Guide
