As the drummer for gothic, heavy metal, band, Morgion, Rhett Davis has delivered some of the hardest hitting sounds heard in California during the late-1990s and early-2000's. He described the group's sound as "Pink Floyd meets the Fields of Nephilim doing Candlesmass covers in a horror movie." Together with vocalist/bassist Jeremy Peto and guitarist Dwayne Boardman, Davis formed Morgion in 1992. Tunes composed by the band during the first two years of their existence were compiled on their debut album, Among Majestic Ruin, in 1997. The album documents the band's evolution as it added a second guitarist, Gary Griffith, and a keyboards player, Ed Parker, in late 1993. Although a series of keyboards filled in after Parker left the group, he returned permanently in the late-1990s. Driven by bottom-heavy bass, Davis and Morgion have increasingly veered towards a more gothic, Swedish death metal-like, sound. The group released its second album, Solinari, in 1999. In addition to his involvement with Morgion, Davis, along with Peto, perform in an old school black/thrash metal band, Crimson Relic, that they share with Gary Anderson, formerly with Thorrs Hammer, and Xanthorvaar, formerly with Divine Ewe. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide
