Formed in the spring of 2003 by former members of hardcore bands Count Me Out, Give Up the Ghost, and Striking Distance, Washington, D.C.'s Renee Heartfelt base their melodic alternative rock on influences like Quicksand, Texas Is the Reason, and Samiam. Featuring singer/guitarist Pete Appleby, guitarist Mike Stankovich, bassist Aaron Barth, and drummer Colin Kimble, the band recorded a number of singles before releasing their debut five-song EP, Magdalene, through Limekiln Records in 2004.
