Quincy Troupe is an author and college professor of literature at UCSD. Five collections of his poetry have been published, including Avalanche Coffee House Press. Troupe also worked with Miles Davis and co-authored the acclaimed Miles: The Autobiography. He has received a Peabody Award and two American Book Awards. Troupe's reading of his text "North Star Boogaloo" is used in trombonist George Lewis' composition of the same name, which was released in early 2000 by the Tzadik label. ~ Joslyn Layne, All Music Guide
