Pushcar

Artist Info

Biography

The Californian modern rock group Pushcar originally began in 1983 under the moniker Curse Toast, but songwriting pals Chris Farrell and Jim Saunders led themselves from the college hangouts to become one of the most recognized SoCal bar bands throughout the late '80s and early '90s. Anthony Mondello joined the band in 1990 and a self-titled debut was issued three years later; Two Words followed in 1996. That same year, Curse Toast released Silver Spork, which achieved moderate airplay on college radio, prior to their breakup in 1998. Saunders was also balancing time in the hardcore band Second Thoughts. It was during this time that Pushcar was conceived, with Saunders and Farrell teaming up once again, Mondello on guitar, and newcomer Damon Marshall on drums. The band's debut Apartment D was released that same year. Round Sound, which was compared to the likes of Olivia Tremor Control and Radiohead, appeared in early 2001. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide
