Paul Clinch & Choya

Singer, keyboardist, bassist, and guitarist Paul Clinch began his musical career in the '60s with a pop/rock group called the Magic Cycle. His professional life lasted for two decades, and saw Clinch record solo under his own name and as Paul Craig. He also released a number of other singles and albums with groups like the one mentioned above and another called Choya. Along the way, Clinch worked with numerous artists, like percussionist Ricky York, guitarist John Shand, bassist Hal Greer, vocalist Wayne St. John, drummer Gary Gies, keyboardist Bruce Ley, and many others. Sadly, Clinch died in late 1988. As a member of the Magic Cycle, Clinch saw the release of his first singles: "Let's Run Away," "Doctor Lollipop," "Give Me the Right," and "Groovy Things." By 1970, the group was using a shorter version of their name, simply the Cycle, and had recorded a debut album, Saturday Afternoon Rummage Sale. That same year, using the pseudonym Paul Craig, Clinch finished his solo debut single as well: "Welcome to My Daydream." In 1972 he began recording under his real name with the tune "Don't Take the Sun out of My Life." The song received mostly positive reviews from critics. The final offering Clinch made was also a solo effort, a single titled "Band Bandit," released in 1979.
