Scott Wynn leads the Panderers, an Indiana-based trio whose music mixes acoustic instruments with roots-rock influences and swaggering, danceable rhythms. The son of a coal miner, Wynn was raised in rural Appalachia and spent his early years working in a tobacco farm, where the sounds of Neil Young and AC/DC would help soundtrack the farmhands' work. Wynn also gravitated toward the country-tinged shuffle of Johnny Cash, whose influence would later find its way into Wynn's own music. Having left the farm, worked various jobs, and graduated college with degrees in industrial technology and political science, Wynn began posting his songs on the internet, eventually striking gold when his MySpace page attracted attention from several labels. He adopted "the Panderers" as the name of his project, enlisted help from two other musicians (drummer/producer Pete McNeal and bassist Andrew "Scrap" Livingston), and recorded an 11-track album entitled Songs That Bang. Although not quite retro, the album's sound harked back to Johnny Cash's heyday while breathing new life into the oldies genre. The Panderers returned in 2008 with the Hotshot's Boy EP, whose leadoff single, "Come On," was used in several national commercials. ~ Andrew LeaheyMySpace page attracted attention from several labels.
