Biography

Tropical group from California Orquesta Gitano started getting involved in the local scene in the early '80s. Formed by Latin percussionist known as Bosco El Gitano, the band's popularity grew while touring around the West Coast. Led by singers Mario Pérez and Eduardo Herrera, Orquesta Gitano recorded Cuando Suena Mi Rumba in 1992, followed by 1996's Gitano and 1998's Grammy-nominated Salsa Gitana. ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide
