Number One Fan was an Appleton, Wisconsin-based emo band featuring Nicholas Ziemann (vocals, guitar), Michael Ziemann (bass), guitarist Matthew Reetz, and drummer Jonathan Fries. The band started around 2001, when its principals were still high-schoolers. They got the word out like any young band in the 21st century, gigging like crazy and using the Internet and MP3s to spread the word. After self-releasing their debut and garnering buzz for their pop melodies and rousing lyrics, Number One Fan was tapped by industry veteran Pat Magnarella to become the initial signees to his Universal-distributed Pat's Music label.
